Madrid Again: A Novel
As a student, Odilia is swept away by one of her professors from Madrid to the United States, but he soon disappears. Left behind with her baby, Lola, Odilia chooses to stay in New England. Lola is torn between two worlds: the life that her mother knew growing up in Spain, and the life Lola has known in New England with her mother. Lola’s career as a historian leads her to discover more about her origins—including her upper-class, Catholic family’s secrets—and to gain an understanding of her own identity and place.
